Through My Eyes

Just a quick post to share a favorite photo. It was taken on a recent field trip with my oldest. This one encompasses so many of my favorite things: circles/spheres, texture, nature and an incredible shade of green. I hope it inspires you too! Check out some other inspiring nature photos in this thread in the Nature Inspired Art Flickr group and if you haven't already, come by and join the group and share your nature inspired art and your inspiring nature photos!

Trying to figure out what those are? Walnuts?

I'm not sure Kate, but I think so. They were just piled up on the porch of the old farmhouse and I couldn't resist capturing them. I so wanted to take one, but I don't think that would have been a good thing to teach the kids. I am sure someone will comment and let us know what they are.

Oh good, I'm not the only un-knowing one here :D

I used to really dislike this color as a teenage. I have really warmed to it since. Just received a bunch of seed beads in a range of yellow-greens. Thanks for sharing this photo. Texture and color...goodies.

I used to feel the same way about green, Carol. Now it is one of my favorite colors to work with. Especially the bright lime green. I can only imagine what fantastic green items you'll make with those beads.

These are hedgeapples, also called "osage orange". They are not edible. They are commonly placed around the house in autumn, to repel spiders. If you google them, I think you'll find that they actually do have some kind of natural insect repellant in them. Note though, that natural doesn't necessarily mean safe.
They don't grow around here, but are sold in the grocery stores around this season, specifically for their spider repellant properties.
I haven't bought any for awhile, but I probably need some!

I just painted my dinning room a similar shade- some may say it's too much, but I love it!
Great picture!
